Since I was a little girl, my life has been related with English language.
My mom is an English teacher and she has always thought that in the globalized world that we are living now, English is a requirement.
In school I really liked English classes, I was very good and I always had excellent grades, but as all in this life, when you do something all the time since you had 4 years, the thing that you are doing starts to be annoying, so when I knew that in the new program for obstetrics English was obligatory, I must admit that I was a little bit angry.
(sorry joe, i'm not inspirated, I will finish it in my home :) )

Challenges in the "real world"
Today, I have to write about my career, but I must consider the challenges that midwives have out there, like in the real world.
I think this is a very important topic in the career of every student, because we all want to feel that we are doing something to improve our country, and be part of the solution and not of the problem.
Well, one of the fields that is important for us is education. Chile has a big percent of unwanted pregnancies, and the most of them is in teenagers and poor people, and I think that the root of the problem is precisely that the sexual education is poor and only a few have access to it.
I’m in first year here in university, but something that my teachers have emphasize me is that our mission as a midwife is not reduced only to bring babies to the world, we have to care about the life that the family can give to this baby, and if the mother is a teenager, and it was an unwanted pregnancy, or the family is poor, the life of the child and the family won’t be optimum.
So I think as educators midwifes have a lot of work.
On the other hand, we have technology.
Those days, we are in a world which is moving forward, and as every career we must move with the world, or stay with outdated techniques, but, at the same time, everyday more parents are looking for a natural birth, and not only about anesthesia, the parents are asking for comfortable rooms, without big machines or with too many people, so is very important have a balance between nature and technology.
Therefore I think that the technology will be more advanced when it is more in tune with nature.
But unfortunately, in my career don’t have many scientists, because most of the people who decide study obstetrics, usually get charmed by babies and then when they work want to be dedicate to them.
I think as a career we have many challenges out there, but as long as we realize about them, we can, overcome the problems, improve and make a better country. (Or world, who knows)

M O N E Y ♥
I really love the theme of today, I’m not sure if I love write about money, but definitely I must admit that I love money (as always as it’s mine of course), but most of the time, I don’t have it.
When I was a little girl I used to save every peso that my parents gave to me, but when I was growing up, I lost that virtue.
I usually don’t have money because I spend it in stupid things, like food (mostly), cigars which I know is awful), and things that people sells in the street.
And the worst part of the situation is that my parents don’t give me enough money because they don’t like that I smoke, so the only way that they can do something about it is giving me less money so I can’t buy cigars.
Otherwise, when I started university, I started to have more expenses too; for example, now I have to spend in photocopies, public transport, lunch, books, printing, etc.
So if I add it to my personal spending like parties, mc Donald, shopping, and a lot more, my money can’t live in my pocket more than two weeks.
But generally, I don’t like borrow money, for one simple reason: I always forget pay back. And is not because I don’t have money, I just forget it. So when I borrow money, I have to write it down. And when I lend money, I forget about it, so I just trust in the person who I lend it. (Probably that is the reason why I sometimes don’t have money).
Other reason that I’m always broke is that I don’t care about coins, for me coins are not money; I always lose them, or spend in thinks that I don’t need.
And finally, the last reason of my poorness is that a big percent of my monthly money goes to my phone, I can’t live without it, and so it must always be with minutes.
So if we take all these arguments, I can perfectly understand why my parents don’t like give me money.

Suggestions for improving my faculty
Well, today I must write about suggestions for improving your faculty, and must admit that is not one of my favourites topics, but I think that I have some ideas.
One of the things that I hate (with all my heart, seriously) is the computers of the library, I don’t understand how the university isn’t ashamed of the computers that we have. First of all, you never find a computer which works, you must try in 3 computers to catch one where works all the things at the same time (for example, if I want to use the mousse, I can’t use the USB port to connect the pen drive, or the keyboard, is really annoying).
Once I was doing a job (an important one) and suddenly the computer restarted by itself, and obviously I didn’t save my work, so after a long afternoon of hard work I had to arrive to my house and started all over again.
So I’ve heard that in other faculties have apple computers because the brand sponsored them. I think that is a good idea because in that way the university doesn’t pay the computers (because I can imagine how expensive could be buy good computers).
The other thing that the faculty must change is that they don’t have enough books for the students, I mean, they not necessary must have books for every single student, but if we are in the “Universidad de Chile medicine faculty” is important to have a lot of anatomy atlas for example, is one of the most important books that we need to study and they don’t have enough, we must go to others faculty to borrow that kind of books.
In spite of all I think that our faculty is amazing, the library is incredible (if we talk about architecture), and I love that we have a lot of green spaces, so after all, I like my faculty.

My places in Santiago
Well, today I’m gonna write about my hometown Santiago.
I must be sincere; I don’t know much about Santiago, and probably if a friend from another country visited me, we’ll be a lot of time searching in a map to know where the places are.
But I have a few places that are my favourites in my city:
First of all, I would take my friend to “Bellas Artes” museum, because I love art, and I think that it has a beautiful architecture, and it always has new and vanguards expositions and artists.
Well, continuing with the culture places, a street that I love and is definitely a place that I must show to my friend is Alonso de Córdova, there you can find a lot of galleries and you can buy paintings and sculptures (is not like I’m going to buy something but you can see all the works in big furniture that you can move like refrigerators, is very strange, but fun), beside in that street you can find the big boutiques like Giorgio Armani, and Carolina Herrera, and the clothes that you can find there are so pretty (again, is not like I’m going to buy something, but look doesn’t hurt)
And of course you can’t leave the street without go to Starbucks (I know that you can find Starbucks in every country, but is like a tradition when I go to Alonso de Córdova)
And finally, another place that I really like is the sculptures park, I’m not really sure how to get there (my foreigner friend and me probably need to see a map before we go) but is a really good place to go and spend an afternoon, there you can find some sculptures (like it name says) and is nice to sit and talk for a while.
And that’s a resume of my favourite places in Santiago, as you can see I don’t know much places but I guarantee you that the places that I named are very beautiful and if you visit them you won’t regret.

The best ever: "The Beatles"
I must admit that I love music, and most of the time I hear all kinds of music, but if I had to choose only one group to listen all day long, it’s definitely The Beatles.
My dad loves them, and since I was a little girl, on all the family trips we only listened to them. But at that time I used to hear “cachureos” (a TV show for kids), so I really didn’t like to hear 2 hours (or as long as the trip lasted) of something that I didn’t understand.
But when I get older that changed, because a friend forgot some Beatles cd’s at my house and I put one in the computer just for curiosity, well that disc is my favorite now, (The album is “Help!”) and also that disc contains my favorite song ever: “I’ve just seen a face”. That song talks about someone who is in love and he can’t forget the face of the girl or the time where they met, also the person wants all the world to see that they have met. (It’s so romantic!).
I think The Beatles is that kind of music that you can’t stop hearing because they have songs for every stage in your life, for all sort of emotions that you can feel, and for every person that you know. If you’re sad, or if you feel excited, they’re just great for all the moments that you can possible live.

A country I would like to visit
Well, I think is kind of difficult to choose only one, because I have never travelled out of Chile, so I’ll be glad to visit any part of the world if I could.
But I have to choose only one, so I would like to visit Morocco because my great-grandfather was born there and since I was a little girl my grandma taught me a lot that country (words in Arabic, dances, music) and it would be fantastic go there with her and share the travel because I know we both would enjoy the experience.
But that isn’t all, I love architecture (not as a career, just to look at it) and I know that Morocco has beautiful buildings and palaces, and because of the religion (Islam) it has amazing mosques which are one of my favourite buildings in the world.
One of my favourite hobbies is dancing, and I used to practice belly dance, so it would be great take classes there and learn some new moves, and I think that probably my grandma would take classes with me.
Another thing that I like of Morocco is the climate, because is very sunny and I would return to Chile very tan.
Finally if I visited Morocco, I would probably go just for vacations, because I don’t speak the language (and it’s really difficult to learn a language which has a different alphabet) so it would be impossible study something related with my career or something like that, so I would only sunbathe, learn to dance, and relax in company with my grandmother.
